Richmond Floorball Club (RFC) is a nonprofit fostering a healthy, active lifestyle through floorball—a hockey-like sport played on foot with a plastic wiffle-type ball and lightweight sticks. One of the fastest-growing team sports in the world, floorball is fully supported by USA Floorball, the national governing body for the sport. The International Floorball Federation (IFF) governs the sport across the world with a mission to increase opportunities to grow the sport. The IFF, USA Floorball, other national governing bodies across the globe. and most recently RFC, all share the same goal of one day seeing floorball in the Olympics. But for now, we must start local and remove barriers between this sport and the Greater Richmond Area community. Our mission is to increase accessibility of play, organize the community around events and youth development, and foster an overall healthy, engaging, and active lifestyle through sport.

“I wish I knew about this sport sooner.”

We hear this often when someone plays for the first time. Richmond’s floorball community has been steadily growing for over five years and now has the highest concentration of players in the U.S. As a non-contact sport, floorball emphasizes stick handling, body positioning, footwork, speed, and teamwork—crucial skills for young athletes and transferable to many other sports. Its inexpensive, lightweight equipment and elimination of checking/contact allow RFC to organize players and expand locations.

Summer 2025

This summer, RFC is partnering with Powhatan Ice Den to bring new ways to experience floorball in Richmond.

For those trying floorball for the first time—we were in your shoes just a few years ago. We focus on a welcoming environment first and are here to help you learn. We also provide sticks, balls, and nets—all you need to do is show up and play!
