Powhatan Ice Den is the First Home of Richmond Floorball Club
This summer we’re partnering with the Powhatan Ice Den and introducing a variety of ways to participate in floorball. And for the first time in four years, we’ll be bringing youth floorball back to the Richmond area, specifically Powhatan! We’re excited to bring competition, coaching, and trainings to the community aligning ourselves with USA Floorball and IFF goals for the sport nationally and across the world.
This summer when the ice is removed, PID will install a full sport court in its place, opening the door to a variety of sports and a new mix of athletic programs at their facility.
We’re proud to be one of the first partners in that expansion and we have collaboratively worked to plan events that prioritize inclusion, skill-building, and competitive integrity.
Our goal is to lead a successful summer with strong community participation and involvement as a clear example of the positivity this sport can bring to the region. We hope that as more are exposed to the game, the participation rates climb higher than they are today. And Richmond is already in the highest tier of floorball participation per capita.
Our long term goal is to bring this sport to other venues over the next several months through free demos, drop-in play/pickup games, beginner clinics and fun corporate team building events. But it will all begin with a home at the Ice Den. We’re grateful for their willingness to partner with us and align with our nonprofit mission to benefit our community. We’re excited to co-build something meaningful in Powhatan and the Greater Richmond Area.
