Why Floorball
Floorball has grown here because of Richmond’s natural energy—its openness to something new, its appreciation for movement and competition, and its ability to build community around shared experiences. And those who have played this sport for years before RFC was established. Now, it’s time to take the next step.
We are driven to grow the game, create opportunities for players of all levels, and build a community that lasts.
This sport is already thriving in the city, and we’re here to bring it structure, opportunity, and a future. We’re not here only for those with national-level aspirations, nor are we solely focused on being a casual, social league. We understand the importance of both. We’re here to create a home where both sides support the other.
We see opportunities for skilled players to mentor younger athletes, new players to the sport who played competitively in other sports but want to blaze a new path and re-ignite that competitive drive (with a runway to national competitions on the world stage). Or maybe someone who has an incredible mind for strategy and coaching. And lastly, those who come to Richmond WITH floorball experience, we are happy to meet every one of you and build this culture.
We encourage all to come out and try the game, meet the crew, and let us know about your experience.
Whatever brings you to the Richmond area, we strive to have an accessible way for you to try, play, or compete in this sport.
Our Story
Richmond has always embraced what’s different. It’s a city that thrives on energy, movement, and community—where new ideas take hold because people are willing to show up and try something unexpected. That’s exactly how floorball found its footing here.
Without structure, funding, or major backing, Richmond quietly became home to the largest concentration of recreational floorball players in the U.S. It grew because people loved playing it, simple as that. Pick-up games turned into weekly traditions, and more and more players started showing up—some looking for competition, others just wanting to stay fit and active, and still others wanted to try something new and have fun.
We feel it’s time to build on that momentum.
The next step is lowering the barrier even further in this already inclusive sport. We will provide the venue. the sticks and the equipment. Just connect with us (form or social), pick up a stick, and let’s play.
